CALVARY IS A DROP-SITE FOR MASK MATERIALS AND COMPLETED MASKS GOING TO ALOMERE HEALTH.
Alomere Health has asked local volunteers to assemble and sew fabric masks for the hospital as our community continues to prepare to respond to the spread of COVID-19.
Calvary is serving as a drop-off location for (1) supplies such as fabric and elastic, and (2) completed masks that will be donated to Alomere Health. Calvary is not distributing masks for individual use.
NOTE: Individuals seeking masks for personal use are encouraged to reach out to family members or friends who sew, to connect with local sewists through the Alexandria Helping Hands Facebook Group, or to use creative non-sewing options that you can search for online.
“Prior to modern disposable masks, washable fabric masks were standard use for hospitals,” said Dawn Rogers, MSN, RN, FNP-C, Patient Safety & Infection Prevention Office. “We will be able to sterilize these masks and use them repeatedly as needed. While it’s less than ideal, we want to do our best to protect our staff and patients during this pandemic.”
Details about making/delivering fabric masks for our patients:
- Use the pattern in the PDF document below.
- Use tightly-woven 100% cotton fabric and flannel.
- Please remember that both women and men in a variety of roles may wear these masks.
- When you have a minimum of 20 masks completed, drop them off in the Calvary Church office vestibule (605 Douglas Street Alexandria, MN 56308 - open 24hrs/day) or call 320-763-5178 to arrange delivery. Calvary or our law enforcement officials will deliver them to the hospital.
