WORSHIP WITH CALVARY AT THE LAKE THIS SUMMER! Beginning Sunday, June 10th, Calvary is adding a summer worship service on the west shore of Lake Carlos at Luther Crest Bible Camp at 10 am. Boat, bike, walk or drive to “Calvary at the Lake” and take part in this family-friendly, music-filled, casual service every Sunday morning. Invite your “lake friends!”
If you are unable to attend worship services on Sundays and would like to receive a bulletin in the mail, please let the office know that. 763-5178.

VBS 2012- “The AmazingDesert Journey” Please help us! …… WANTED —– NEEDED!! Donate or Loan!! We are in need of the following items for VBS 2012. If you have any of these items and would be comfortable with loaning or would like to donate them to us, sign your name and phone number on the board in the Narthex. We will gladly return all items if they are labeled! Our theme this year is “The AmazingDesert Journey”- so we will have a desert Moroccan theme. We need to have the items at the church (white box in the Narthex) no later than Monday June 4th. These items will not be damaged or used, since they are for decoration only. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Carol Paterson-Smith, 763-3893. · Large-natural colored baskets- all shapes. · Any Moroccan themed items. (brass containers, lanterns, urns, etc.) · Moroccan themed, striped, or brightly colored, natural or woven rugs. (these will be used indoors in our “tents”).· Moroccan themed, striped, or brightly colored, natural or woven material. o (Large pieces! Minimum of 7-8 feet in length. They will not be cut if you want them returned. o Also width doesn’t matter. These will be used for draping to make tents indoors.)· Batting and/or foam for stuffing pillows. (donate only, cannot be returned) Again, these can all be dropped off in the church Narthex in the large white box. Please sign the sheets next to the box with your name and if you want your items returned. If so, PLEASE label. THANK YOU!!

Women’s Bible Study meets on Tuesday mornings at 9 am. We are studying the book of James. All women, Come and join us!!
Men’s Dartball meet on Tuesdays at 9 am
Men’s Bible Study meet Wednesdays at 7 am! This Bible Study is led by Joe Bridges and is a great fellowship for all Calvary Men!!! Please join us!!
UPCOMING EVENTS:
A Call Committee for a permanent Associate Pastoris being
assembled by Calvary’s Nominating Committee at this time. If you
know of someone you would like to nominate for the Call Committee or
have interest in serving yourself, please contact Pastor Hans or one of
the members of the committee by May 20th.. In the coming weeks the
Nominating Committee will present the congregation with a proposed
Call Committee for congregational approval and the Call Committee will
commence it’s search. Thank you to members of our Nominating

May is Mental Health Month. The National Alliance on Mental Illness
(NAMI) of Minnesota offers free educational classes, support groups
and resources for families and individuals living with a mental illness. It
will hold a free workshop at Calvary on Thursday, May 17 from 1-3 PM
for parents of children with challenging behaviors or mental illness. For

“Cruisin’ with Calvary”

What: Day trip to Woodtıck Musical Theater in Akeley,
(Maınee performance at 3:00pm)
When: Thursday, June 28th, 2012
Cost: $40.00 (includes bus ride, tıp for driver and tıcket)
What is the Woodtıck theater show? It is a privately owned, casual musical
theater. This is their 21st season of foot-stoppin’, hand-clappin’, fun and lively
musical entertainment. Their repertoire features country, bluegrass, folk and
gospel music, comedy skits, lighthearted instrumentals, harmonicas, fiddles
and guitars.
The bus is a coach tour bus, with comfortable seats, TV, and a restroom on
board. You will be able to bring your own food/snacks/drinks if you’d like.
The bus does have a couple of steps to enter, but the theater is handicapped
accessible.
We will be leaving Calvary at 9:30am. (Be here by 9:15)
We will be stopping in Dorset for lunch. You will have approximately 2 hours
for lunch at any restaurant of your choice and shopping, if you’d like. We will
leave Dorset for Akeley at 2:00pm to arrive in Akeley about 2:30, as the
performance begins at 3:00. It is a 2 hour performance with an intermission.
We will then head back to Alexandria and plan on making a stop at a fast food
restaurant for a “quick bite”. We should be back at Calvary approximately
8-8:30pm.
We need completed form (in office) with your check by Wednesday, June 20th.
You can drop off in the office or we will be available on most Saturday evenings
and in-between services on Sundays. This will be non-refundable unless the
enıre trip is cancelled for minimums not met. We have a minimum of 30 and a
maximum of 54. Friends are welcome! Please feel free to contact Karen Cook

FYI: we are planning a variety of trips during 2012.

Charity Garage Sale, Saturday, May 19th from 7am – 3pm at the AlexandriaRunestoneCommunity Center, West Rink. Sponsored by Love INC of Douglas County/Mercy Orphanages India.
Calvary is providing Hospitality for the Habitat for Humanity Home Builders’ Blitz Build on Monday, June 4. We are asked to provide breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner for the workers. If you are able to help, please talk with Paul Hanson at 846-2478.

Pastor Hans is the theological speaker and Bible study leader and Sara Forsberg, author of “Diamonds in the Garbage”, is the keynote speaker.
